Bloor West Village Restaurants Offering Unforgettable Take-Out

With winter in full swing, nothing beats the cold-weather blues like treating yourself to some tasty comfort food. However, while indoor dining at restaurants is currently prohibited due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the best way to enjoy a meal from local restaurants is through takeout or delivery services.

Whether you’re dialling in for delivery or picking up takeout in-person, supporting local restaurants is as important (and delicious) as ever. Here are a few of our favourite Bloor West Village spots you have to check out for yourself.

Queen Margherita Pizza

785 Annette St

Our family is bat-$h*@ crazy for this pizza, not to mention their Grilled Kale Salad with Whipped Ricotta. The Neapolitan-style pizza is soft, thin, and cooked to perfection — and is always dressed with the best toppings.

A few of our favourites are the Alla Campagnolo, La Scala, The Dominator, and our kids love the delicious Margherita. The Grilled Kale Salad is perfectly delicious served take-out style (trust me, this salad will change the way you look at take-out salads).

The best part about Queen Margherita Pizza is how they learned to pivot during the pandemic, offering various lockdown specials. Their current pizza promotion is 1/2 price pizza on Wednesdays on all pick-up orders! That’s a promo that’s hard to beat.

Durbar Indian Cuisine

2469 Bloor St W

Can the whole family really eat Indian? YES — especially from this place. We love Indian food, but often found it challenging to order for the kids until we discovered Durbar Indian Cuisine on Bloor St. West. The food is not only consistent, they offer delivery which always comes fast.

There really is nothing more satisfying on a cold winter’s day than a hot Butter Chicken or a Spicy Vindaloo (careful, their Vindaloo is the real deal). Our kids love the Mild Chicken Korma with Basmati Rice and Naan Bread.

Queen’s Pasta Cafe

2263 Bloor St W

It’s rare to speak to a west end local who hasn’t either dined inside or sat on the awesome Queen’s Pasta Cafe patio in the summer (tip: it’s the perfect place for people-watching). Open for over 20 years, Queens Pasta Cafe offers authentic Italian comfort food, perfect for take-out and sure to satisfy your pasta craving.

When it comes to pasta, the kids and I like it simple (but more complex than we could make at home). Look out for the Linguini with Lemon Garlic Cream Sauce and Spaghetti and Meatballs. Hubby loves the Penne Alla Carbonara or the Black & White Fettuccine with Grilled Black Tiger Shrimp — we definitely would never make that at home! Whatever your favourite Italian pasta is, you’ll find it here.

Kinton Ramen

2216 Bloor St W

This place is seriously delicious and incredibly satisfying, especially for a winter meal. Although this is a newer restaurant on the Bloor West Village strip, Kinton Ramen has multiple locations across Toronto and was one of the first Japanese Ramen restaurants in the city.

We always order the Ramen and it has to be spicy, but there are plenty of mild options too. Our favourite ramen options are the Spicy Pork Garlic and the Karaage Ramen with thick noodle. The best part about this place is that they have specials galore, making this take-out dinner very cost-friendly.
