Our Favourite Patios in the Junction This Summer
When summer arrives in The Junction, the neighbourhood really comes alive.
Patios begin to fill, friends linger over drinks a little longer, and Dundas Street West takes on that relaxed summer energy that makes the west end feel almost village-like. One of the things we love about these spots is that they strike the perfect balance. Many of them are family-friendly restaurants in The Junction, welcoming kids and casual daytime outings, but they’re just as great for adult gatherings in the evening when the cocktails start flowing, and dinner stretches a little longer.
What ties them all together is the same winning formula: great food, lively patios, and the relaxed neighbourhood vibe that makes The Junction such a fun place to spend a summer evening.
Part of what makes living in The Junction in Toronto so appealing is how walkable everything is. A summer evening might start with a stroll down Dundas West, turn into dinner on a patio, and end with a walk toward the West Toronto Railpath or a quick stop for dessert or coffee.
Luckily, The Junction has no shortage of great patios for dinner, drinks, and warm summer evenings.
Playa Cabana Cantina
For something a little more vibrant, Playa Cabana brings colourful energy and bold Mexican flavours to the Junction patio scene.
Their street-side patio along Dundas Street West is always buzzing in the summer, making it a great place to sit outside and soak up the lively neighbourhood atmosphere. It’s the kind of spot where the energy is high, the service is friendly, and the evening tends to stretch a little longer than planned.
We especially love the margaritas here — they’re excellent — and the guacamole with chips is a must-order to start the table. From there, the menu of tacos and shareable Mexican dishes makes it easy to settle in and enjoy a relaxed meal with friends.
If you’re looking for a patio that feels fun, social, and full of energy, Playa Cabana is always a great choice in the Junction.
Playa Cabana Cantina is located at 2883 Dundas W. M6P 1Y9

Botham’s (and Hole in the Wall)
When summer patio season hits the Junction, Botham’s is one of the places locals head first. Its street-side patio along Dundas West is a great spot to sit back with a drink and watch the neighbourhood come to life.
The large street-side patio along Dundas West stretches across Botham’s and its neighbour Hole in the Wall, giving the whole stretch a lively, social atmosphere during the warmer months. It’s a great place to sit with a drink or dinner while watching the neighbourhood come to life.
Inside, Botham’s is known for its elevated diner-style decor and thoughtful menu, with dishes that feel comforting but carefully prepared. Their house-made sourdough has become a favourite among locals and shows up in several dishes.
Another reason the space feels so connected to the neighbourhood is that Botham’s flows directly into Hole in the Wall, the beloved Junction bar known for its live music and lively energy. It’s easy to start the evening with dinner on the patio before heading next door for drinks or catching a show.
It’s the kind of place that captures the creative, community-driven vibe that makes The Junction, Toronto such a fun neighbourhood in the summer.
Botham’s is located at 2869 Dundas St West.

Annette Food Market
Just a short walk north of Dundas along the Annette Street strip, Annette Food Market is one of our go-to spots in the neighbourhood for really great Italian food.
The patio sits right along the street and feels fully immersed in the rhythm of the neighbourhood. It’s a great place to settle in on a warm evening with a cocktail and watch the local energy unfold around you.
The menu focuses on beautifully prepared Italian dishes, with a surprisingly large selection of vegetarian options, which makes it an easy place for everyone at the table to find something they love. The pizzas here are fantastic and definitely worth ordering.
Another fun detail we love about this spot is the harvest table at the back of the restaurant, which is perfect for small private gatherings of around 10–12 people. We’ve even hosted a birthday celebration there ourselves, and it made for a really memorable evening. Between the great food, excellent cocktails, and relaxed neighbourhood patio, Annette Food Market is one of those places that keeps locals coming back again and again.
Annette Food Market is located at 240 Annette St.
Dirty Food
If you’re looking for something a little more casual and lively, Dirty Food is always a fun stop.
Their patio is small — just a handful of tables along Dundas Street West — but that’s part of the charm. It often feels like you’ve snagged one of the neighbourhood’s best seats when you manage to grab a spot outside.
Dirty Food is known for its bold comfort food and playful menu. Expect indulgent dishes, big flavours, and a relaxed atmosphere that fits perfectly with the Junction’s creative vibe.
It’s a great place to meet friends, share a few plates, and enjoy a laid-back summer evening.
Dirty Food is located at 3070 Dundas St West.

The Alpine
The Alpine describes itself as a modern mountain lodge, and the vibe absolutely delivers. The space leans into European tavern and alpine-inspired comfort food, creating a lively, cozy atmosphere that feels perfect for sharing plates and drinks with friends.
During the warmer months, their street-side patio along Dundas Street West is a great place to settle in and enjoy the neighbourhood energy. It’s an easy spot to grab a table, order a drink, and watch the Junction go by.
The menu is full of hearty favourites, with dishes like soft pretzels and pierogis that are perfect for sharing. Pair them with one of their thoughtfully selected craft beers or a crisp European-style lager and you’ve got the makings of a great summer evening.
Between the relaxed patio, comforting food, and strong beer and cocktail list, The Alpine is a fun and welcoming addition to the Junction patio scene.
The Alpine is at 2872 Dundas West
